Hey all,

I'm wanting to build up a 1.9a GREEN XP-E2 thrower. I had built a green LuxV back in the day and sold it to build a pewter 2C maglite w/dual BB500's pushing 1 amp to a TRUE Cyan LuxIII. Which is still one of my favorites, but I like true green light too (not traffic light cyan) and I want to build one again.

I like my colored lights to throw. I kind of want the light to be somewhat small like the 2C, but I only have a 3C and 3D hosts. I could get a 2C mag, and see if the magLED reflector would fit, but then I'm not sure about power source. So likely I'd just throw it in the 3D magLED and see what direct drive will do and tune from there.

Or I could build a C8 host with a 18650, which would be a small package and use a 1.9amp driver. The reflector would be aluminum and so there would be less light lost due to bleed through (plastic mag reflectors can actually let light through the back side if you have enough lumens!). But it's going to be smaller in diameter (not sure how small C8 reflectors are).

So does anyone have any idea in lux difference between a MagLED reflector and a c8 reflector? Anyone have any numbers to compare at the same current for a XP-E or XP-G? Are we talking loosing 50-100k? or just something like 10-15k?

I'm willing to loose some lux for small size and easy 1.9amp to the LED if there isn't much difference. But if there is a huge difference where it will definitely impress then the old mag mod it will be.

Star board's I can get in 10mm to work with the mag or 20mm for the C8, on noctigon copper board so it should take the heat!

Cheers all!  Cheesy
